City V Plymouth Argyle: The Tiger's extend their unbeaten run to ten games.

City make it ten games unbeaten after a second professional 3-0 victory on the bounce, making it eight victories and two draws in their last ten.

Grant McCann named an unchanged City starting XI that put in the professional 3-0 victory at the KCOM Stadium against Northampton Town. It was a really bright start from City in the opening minutes of the game. With the early pressure from The Tigers coming through well worked build up play, set pieces and the odd speculative shot. City perseverance paid off in the eleventh minute, when City took the lead. Mallik Wilks threaded a lovely pass for Lewis-Potter to slot home a right-footed effort into the bottom corner.

City's momentum continued to build in the seventeenth minute, through some brilliant work from Greg Docherty. The midfielder traded passes with Regan Slater and drived into Plymouth territory before feeding Wilks, whose shot is deflected behind for a corner. The resulting corner found Wilks whose effort went wide. City continued with the silky football minutes later as Greg Docherty fed a delightful, incisive pass down the left, tha played in Elder, he pulled the ball across but the resulting efforts were scrambled clear. City had an opportunity to double their lead in the twenty fourth, Callum Elder delivered a pinpoint free-kick only to find Mallik Wilks who headed wide. The home side did win themselves a dangerous free-kick in the twenty sixth minute, the resulting effort from twenty-five yards dealt with accordingly by City's defence. Greavesy was called into action just past the half hour mark, putting himself in the way to deny Panutche Camara, a follow-up effort from Tyrese Fornah was kept out by Matt Ingram. Matt Ingram produced another fine save at his near post in the fourty first minute as he was able to parry Kelland Watts' shot from inside the box. The resulting Plymouth corner was met by Watts who was only able to head wide. Plymouth ended the first half strongly, though the City defence stood firm and were able to quash any advances from today's visitors. HT: City 1-0 Argyle City had an early penalty shout in the second half, Greg Docherty's driving effort prompted City calls which ultimately fell on deaf ears, with the referee opting for a corner. City's first major opportunity came from the resulting corner in the fiftieth minute, Callum Elder with another decent ball in to the near post which found Josh Magennis whom nodded wide. Moments after, it was defensive duties at the ready. Adam Lewis' low cross proved dangerous, though Elder pounced into action putting the ball behind for a corner. Lewis' resulting corner was scrambled behind for a second corner, which was claimed by Ingram. City doubled their lead in the fifty seventh minute, George Honeyman picked the pocket of Jerome Opoku and subsequently played on Josh Magennis whos the ball through the legs of the Micheal Cooper, for his thirteenth goal of the campaign. City almost made it three just after the hour with some superb work from our Scottish talisman, whom drove the ball forward finding Mallik Wilks whom fired across goal, missing the far top corner by a whisker. Seventy-four minutes in Greg Docherty got the goal he deserved, after driving forward from deep once more and aftervsome quick fire passing with Keane Lewis-Potter, the doctor drilled a low shot into the bottom corner, making it three nil to The Tiger's.

Grant McCann made a triple substitution four minutes later. Lewie Coyle, George Honeyman and Keane Lewis-Potter made way for Gavin Whyte, Dan Crowley and Josh Emmanuel. Jacob Greaves could've made it four for City just after eighty minutes, he was unable to find the target from another superb Callum Elder cross. He will get his goal one day. City's fourth substitution came in the eighty second minute, Josh Magennis made way for Tom Eaves for the final moments of the game. As in the first half, Plymouth had a few chances late on in the half, none of which particularly tested Matt Ingram. Mallik Wilks again, as the clock ticked over the ninety, controlled the ball beautifully after receiving from Elder, yet wasn't able to find the target. Could've had several today this lad. FT: City 3-0 Argyle City now find themselves eight points clear of third placed Sunderland and three ahead of second placed Peterborough United, having lost to Charlton and won at Swindon respectively. Sunderland do still have their two game advantage though are now unable to surpas City unless it all falls apart and Peterborough have one game on us but City have the 'extra point' in the better goal difference.
