Burton Albion V Hull City: Frustrating day on the road.

Hull City failed to register a single shot on target as they lost 1-0 against bottom of the table Burton Albion.

There was one change made to the City starting 11 from their last league game against Swindon Town as skipper Richie Smallwood came in to replace the injured Alfie Jones.


It was a below par performance in the first half from the Tigers as they struggled to take control of the game.

City had an opportunity in the 11th minute as a Callum Elder cross found Keane Lewis-Potter who put his header over the bar.

Burton came close to taking the lead a couple of minutes later when Lucas Akins saw his shot hit the side netting after the ball broke to him from a misplaced clearance by Jacob Greaves.

The Tigers suffered an injury setback in the 22nd minute as Richie Smallwood was replaced by Regan Slater and the captain's armband was given to Lewie Coyle.


Dan Crowley had a half chance in the 38th minute with a curled effort that went wide. George Honeyman saw his effort blocked by the Burton defence in the 50th minute. Burton had a chance in the 52nd minute when Sean Clare's effort from 25 yards out went wide.


Greg Docherty put a shot wide in the 56th minute and subsequently saw another strike hit the crossbar a minute later. The Brewers came very close to taking the lead in the 70th minute as Jonny Smith was denied by a good save from City goalkeeper George Long.


Burton threatened yet again in the 76th minute when Josh Parker put his effort wide after the ball fell to him after George Long palmed away a Tom Hamer cross. City wasted another half chance in the 71st minute as Dan Crowley's shot went over the bar.

Burton had another dangerous opportunity in the 79th minute through a Joe Powell free kick from 25 yards out which went just wide. The Brewers found a deserved winner in the 90th minute as a Josh Parker through ball found Jonny Smith who coolly tucked the ball home.


City are in 2nd place in the League One table and are three points adrift of top of the table Lincoln City after they won at Gillingham on Friday night. The Tigers are now level on points with 3rd placed Doncaster who beat Oxford United. 3w3placed Doncaster after they beat Oxford United.
