Hull City V MK Dons: Toothless Tiger's have no bite.

Updated: Mar 14, 2021

Hull City failed to score for the third successive league game as they lost 0-1 against MK Dons at the KCOM Stadium.

Grant McCann made one change for this match from the side that started the 0-0 draw against Lincoln City on Tuesday night as Mallik Wilks returned to the starting 11 whilst Josh Emmanuel dropped to the bench. City had opportunities in the first half but they failed to take them.

MK Dons had an early opportunity in the 6th minute as Zak Jules put a header wide. City showed some attacking intent in the 10th minute when a Josh Magennis through ball sent Keane Lewis-Potter through one on one but his effort was saved by MK Dons goalkeeper Andy Fisher.

The visitors came close to taking the lead in the 17th minute as a cross into the City box found Will Grigg at the back post and his effort was well saved by Matt Ingram. Meanwhile, the Tigers nearly scored a spectacular opening goal in the 19th minute when a loose clearance from Andy Fisher ended up falling to Mallik Wilks on the halfway line and the latter's subsequent long range effort went just wide.

Wilks had another effort in the 25th minute which went over the bar after a good attacking move. MK Dons created a half chance in the 58th minute through a Harry Darling header which went over the bar. City had an effort in the 60th minute which fell to Greg Docherty as he met Callum Elder's cutback with a fierce effort which was tipped over the bar by Andy Fisher.

MK Dons were later awarded a penalty which was converted by Scott Fraser in the 80th minute to give them the lead. The Tigers had a late chance to equalise in stoppage time when Josh Magennis put his header wide.

City remain in 2nd place in the League One table and are three points behind Lincoln City. However, the Imps and many sides below the Tigers have games in hands.
