Shrewsbury Town V City: Salvaged point from a uneventful outing.

Hull City's five game winning streak came to an end as they drew 1-1 at Shrewsbury Town.

Grant McCann stuck with the same starting 11 that began the 2-0 win against Oxford United last Saturday.

It was a frustrating first half for the Tigers as they were unable to carve out any real goalscoring opportunities. Meanwhile, Shrewsbury provided some threat to the City goal as they had a couple of shots which were on target.

The first real opportunity on goal came in the 27th minute through an effort from Josh Vela which was well saved by City goalkeeper Matt Ingram. City created a half chance in the 34th minute as some good work from Keane Lewis-Potter led to Mallik Wilks having an effort which went off target.

Shrewsbury produced another effort on target a few minutes later courtesy of a Shaun Whalley strike from distance which went straight at Matt Ingram.

The Tigers came close to taking the lead in the first few minutes of the second half as Reece Burke and substitute Josh Magennis both had efforts blocked by the Shrewsbury defence.

Shrewsbury subsequently took the lead in the 54th minute when the ball bounced off the back of Matt Ingram into the back of the net after Nathaniel Ogbeta hit the bar with a free kick.

City equalised in the 62nd minute thanks to an excellent strike from ex Shrewsbury loanee Greg Docherty who bagged his 4th league goal of the season.

Jacob Greaves nearly doubled City's lead in the 66th minute as he met a Callum Elder corner and put his header off target. The hosts then had a chance of their own a minute later through an effort from Shaun Whalley which forced Matt Ingram into making a good save.

Shrewsbury carved out a chance in the 75th minute when a David Davis pass found Nathaniel Ogbeta who then put a shot wide.

Shrewsbury almost went in front in the 84th minute as Nathaniel Ogbeta's cross went towards the City goal and it had to be tipped over the bar by Matt Ingram.

This draw leaves City still top of the League One table whilst the three sides below them also drew their games.
