The Tigers made a very encouraging start to the game as they accumulated a number of corners in the first few minutes. City had an opportunity in the 11th minute when Jordy de Wijs put a header over the bar after getting on the end of a George Honeyman delivery into the Swindon box.

City produced a great chance in the 14th minute as Greg Docherty's effort went just wide after he had the ball laid back to him by Mallik Wilks.

The Tigers took the lead in the 16th minute when Keane Lewis-Potter ran from just inside his own half to the edge of the Swindon box, before placing his effort into the back of the net to bag his fifth league goal of the season.

City looked to grab a second goal almost immediately as Mallik Wilks put a header straight at Swindon goalkeeper Matêj Kovár. Keane Lewis-Potter could have had a second goal of the game in the 29th minute as he put a free kick wide.

Swindon equalised in the 31st minute when Jonny Smith's short corner found Paul Caddis unmarked in the City box who fired home. The Robins could have almost immediately taken the lead in the 34th minute as Jonny Smith's acrobatic effort went just over the bar.

Jonny Smith came close again for Swindon in the 43rd minute when he forced a save out of City goalkeeper Matt Ingram. The Tigers had an opportunity in the first few minutes of the second half as Mallik Wilks put an effort over the bar.

Swindon then had an attack of their own and took the lead themselves in the 54th minute when Joel Grant's effort found the bottom corner of the net after he latched onto Hallam Hope's pass.

Grant McCann made a double change in the 59th minute as James Scott and Josh Magennis came on to replace Tom Eaves and Mallik Wilks. City's third and final substitution came in the 66th minute with Thomas Mayer replacing Greg Docherty.

City thought they found an equaliser in the 72nd minute when Josh Magennis headed home from a George Honeyman free kick, but this was ruled out for offside.

The Tigers continued to push for an equaliser as the game drew to a close. Their last real opportunity came in the 83rd minute when skipper Richie Smallwood put his effort wide.

City have dropped to 4th place in the League One table as a result of this defeat and the fact Peterborough United and Ipswich Town both picked up three points against Shrewsbury Town and Crewe Alexandra respectively.
